Call for Entries: DocoCast Residency 2026

DocoCast Residency

The second edition of the DocoCast Residency, initiated by the French Institute in Israel and the Cinema South Festival, aims to strengthen the documentary podcasters community in Israel. We invite creators from diverse backgrounds in storytelling and sound (such as journalists, documentary filmmakers, radio professionals, film directors, and content creators) who are interested in developing a documentary podcast to apply.

Featuring both Israeli and French mentors, the residency offers a unique opportunity to explore and learn the creative approaches to documentary podcasting from both countries.

The program begins with intensive sessions over 4 days during the 25th Cinema South Festival in Sderot (November 1-5, 2026). Participants will be invited to stay in Sderot during the festival. The program includes personal guidance, meetings with mentors, group listening sessions, feedback for development and editing and additional program events.

Following the festival, the residency will continue with regular meetings over a six-month period, guiding participants through the development process until they create a final pilot episode of approximately 7 minutes. The pilots developed as part of the residency will have their premiere broadcast at the following edition of the Cinema South Festival (2027).

One of the participants will be selected as the Israeli representative for a prestigious 7-week program at the ENS Louis-Lumière in Paris. The residency in France will take place during July-August 2027. All costs will be covered by the French Institute in Israel.

Please note:

*Full commitment and participation in the entire process are mandatory for all accepted creators.

*4 creators will be accepted into the development residency based on the submission of a written proposal and an interview.
