Recently, we had the honor of hosting at the College the leadership of the German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development (GIF), one of the most important and prominent foundations working to strengthen academic and scientific ties between Germany and Israel.

The special visit of Verena Shifferman, CEO of the GIF, and Mirit Liran, Director of Research, was dedicated to the Western Negev region and to the College in particular, and concluded successfully. As part of the visit, a moving tour was held at the “Ketav VaShem” memorial site near Kibbutz Kfar Aza, guided by Dr. Noga Raved of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, followed by a visit to the heart of Sderot and to the Sderot Police Station Memorial and Heroism Site. Subsequently, a meeting was held with the leadership of the School of Law, led by the Dean, Dr. Ido Eshet, together with faculty members: Dr. Boaz Segal, Vice Dean; Prof. Orna Alyagon-Darr, Dean for Gender Fairness, Equality and Diversity; Dr. Sharon Bar-Ziv, Head of the Master’s Programs; and Dr. Omer Aloni, Senior Lecturer at the School and initiator of the collaboration with the GIF. The visit was accompanied by Dr. Aloni and by Limor Flanter Faran, Head of the College’s International Office.
Throughout the intensive day, the uniqueness of the College and its academic and regional role in the Western Negev were highlighted, as well as its contribution as a leading academic institution. Personal connections were forged, and concrete possibilities for future collaborations were discussed between Sapir College in general, and the School of Law in particular, and institutions and researchers in Germany, with the support of the Foundation. Already on the agenda are a dedicated workshop aimed at optimal preparation for the Foundation’s upcoming call for proposals, as well as a follow-up meeting in the near future between the Foundation’s leadership and the President of the College, Prof. Nir Kedar.

Sapir Law School is proud to announce that the Honorable President (retired) Justice Esther Hayut will teach a unique workshop on "Law and the Holocaust" in the summer semester (2026) at Sapir Law School. Honorable President Hayut began her judicial career in 1990 as a Magistrate's Court judge in Tel Aviv. In 1997, she was appointed to the District Court, and in 2004, she was appointed to the Supreme Court. Judge Hayut served as chairwoman of the Central Elections Committee and chairwoman of the Judges' Ethics Committee.

Sapir College has inaugurated an innovative building dedicated to the memory of the late Ofir Libstein, who was murdered during the events of October 7. The building will centralize the activities of the Information Systems and Technologies Division, which is responsible for all of the college’s IT infrastructure and technological services, and will provide support and solutions for faculty and students, as part of the college’s commitment to academic excellence and the advancement of technological innovation.
