Nir Kedar of Sapir Academic College made Full Professor

Nir Kedar was promoted to Full Professor by Israel’s Council for Higher Education. Kedar is Vice President for Academic Affairs at Sapir Academic College.  He formerly served as Dean of Sapir’s Law School, and Professor of Law and History at Bar Ilan University.

Professor Kedar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and History from Tel Aviv University and doctoral degree from Harvard University in Law and Legal History.  He was a law clerk with Judge Aharon Barak, who was at the time the Chief Justice of Israel’s Supreme Court.  Kedar’s widely acclaimed volume Law and Identity in Israel:  A Century of Debate was published in 2019.

Professor Shai Feldman, President of Sapir Academic College, says the appointment is well deserved. “Prof. Kedar is a world recognized legal expert and historian.  His contribution to our understanding of how Israel’s political thinking and democratic institutions evolved in the early, post-independence years has been invaluable.  Warmest congratulations to my esteemed friend and colleague.”

Sapir Law School is proud to announce that the Honorable President (retired) Justice Esther Hayut will teach a unique workshop on "Law and the Holocaust" in the summer semester (2026) at Sapir Law School. Honorable President Hayut began her judicial career in 1990 as a Magistrate's Court judge in Tel Aviv. In 1997, she was appointed to the District Court, and in 2004, she was appointed to the Supreme Court. Judge Hayut served as chairwoman of the Central Elections Committee and chairwoman of the Judges' Ethics Committee.
