The feature films, short films, and special events in this category invite audiences to engage with a Southern local reality- one in which beauty and pain are interwoven.

Since its founding, Cinema South Festival has taken place in a region marked by conflict, and even more so since the events of October 7th. The festival is not only a cinematic celebration, but also a visual expression of the Southern human spirit- a spirit that insists on living, creating, and feeling.

We view the festival’s very existence and activity as a social and cultural mission: to help restore and strengthen this unique region, to give voice to its many diverse communities, and to tell the story of the South-rooted in real experience and held to the highest artistic standards.

We invite you to read and rewrite the story of the South with us- through the perspectives of filmmakers from the Negev who strive in their work to capture both the longing for quiet and the need for healing.
