Miriam and Benny - Studio Darom Participants 2025
Synopsis
Miriam (63) lives with her older brother Benny (72) an autistic man and imagined pilot who has never flown. When Benny collapses and is diagnosed with a brain tumor, their closed-off world begins to crack. The sudden arrival of Hagar - a wild, fractured young singer, unsettles their symbiotic bond and pulls them into a journey of healing, longing, and unspoken desire back to Bulgaria, where it all began.

Yahli Maoz | Director
A filmmaker based in Tel Aviv. She studied directing and cinematography at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, graduating with Outstanding Excellence, and was selected as a 'Promising Creator' in 2024. During her time at Sam Spiegel, she directed several short films and also worked as a cinematographer on numerous fiction and documentary projects. Her films have screened at the Jerusalem Film Festival and TLVFest. In 2024, she received the ‘Short on the Way’ production grant for her first independent short film, 'Carmen'. She is currently developing her debut feature film and working with director Talya Lavie. Alongside her creative work, Yahli has also taught filmmaking to children
Yuval Herman | Producer
A filmmaker based in Tel Aviv. A graduate of the full program at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, he wrote and directed two narrative shorts during his studies. Alongside his own work, he gained experience as a first assistant director and producer on a wide range of projects both within and outside the school, including Carmen by Yaheli Maoz, produced as part of the “Short on the Way” initiative.
He is currently active AD on diverse projects, while developing the screenplay for his debut feature film.
