Synopsis
Almaz is a 60-year-old widow living alone in a neighborhood predominantly populated by members of the Ethiopian community. She makes her living as a cleaner and enjoys Indian soap operas. Mekonnen is an Eritrean foreign worker in his early 40s, earning money through temporary renovation jobs. Almaz and Mekonnen meet for the first time at her workplace, and Mekonnen invites her to have lunch with him, thus beginning a strange and romantic relationship between them. Eventually, Mekonnen moves in with her. Their relationship triggers bitter reactions from those around them. Almaz's neighbors and members of the Ethiopian community oppose the relationship because he is "Muslim and Arab," as they put it.
Bazi Gete | Director
screenwriter and director, a graduate of the School of Audio and Visual Arts at Sapir Academic College. In 2014, Gete directed "Red Leaves", a feature drama film that won the Best Debut Film Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival. In 2010, he directed the television series "Medium Rare". Gete is the founder and artistic director of the African Film Festival in Tel Aviv.
Elad Peleg | Producer
Israeli producer, holding a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and Economics and a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA). He is a graduate of Ben Gurion University and also holds an MBA from the Open University. Peleg is a co-founder of Drom Productions, a company specializing in the production of feature films and documentaries. The company has 14 films at various stages of production, including "Red Leaves", winner of the Piperski Prize and the Best Debut Film Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, "Life According to Ohad", winner of an Honorable Mention at the Docaviv Festival, "Kusturica's Dream", and more. He began his career in the film industry as an editor and served as the content manager at the Sderot Cinematheque for 7 years. He was the content producer for the South Cinema Festival, the Women's Film Festival, and the chief producer of the Utopia Festival.
