The global shutdown of movie theaters due to COVID-19, after 120 years of existence, generated a profound upheaval. The fact that the shutdown did occur begs the question – what is the significance of cinematic creation, how is it unique?

Cinema South Festival launches a unique competition, cross-genre, for short films (between 2-5 minutes), that promote films on the cinematic medium itself, its significance and future.

Of the many films submitted, XX were chosen that reflect on the essence of filmmaking and filmmakers in an era when global and local film industries are seeking their way.

Cash prizes totaling NIS 5,000 will be awarded courtesy of the Cinema South Festival.
