Hicham Lasri, born in 1977, is a screenwriter, director, novelist and musician who was born and lives in Casablanca, Morocco to this day.

After studying law, Lasri changed orientation to focus on creating for the screen and stage and quickly began writing scripts for full length films for prominent directors, including Nabil Ayouch.
Later he began making his own independent films, feature films for the most part, that garnered broad international exposure, acclaim and awards at major festivals such as the Berlinale, the Toronto International Film Festival and more.

For the first time at an Israeli film festival, the Cinema South Festival will offer a comprehensive retrospective of Lasri's long and short films and he will conduct a Master Class for the students and the public.
