Simone Bitton was born in Morocco in 1955. She lived in Rabat, Jerusalem, Paris, and Rabat again. She directed more than 15 documentary films, all of them attest to her deep personal and professional commitment to better representing the complex
histories and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa. Her three latest feature documentaries, WALL, RACHEL and ZIYARA were presented in prestigious international festivals such as Cannes Directors Fortnight, Sundance, Berlinale Forum, IDFA masters, etc and were widely distributed theatrically.  
She also teaches cinema and gives documentary workshops in several cinema schools and universities, in Morocco and in France (Esav Marrakech, Ismac Rabat, Paris 8 University, Ateliers Varan).
