Elik is a Holocaust survivor who washes ashore in Mandatory Palestine. There, he meets a British officer who sends him to cut down an ancient olive tree for him. The encounter with the tree awakens a dormant traumatic cycle of modernity, uprooting, and unrestrained violence.
