Radio Baghdad is a band that performs pieces from the vast repertoire of the Iraqi maqam, a musical tradition that arrived in Israel with the Iraqi immigration of the 1950s. Aviv, the band’s lead vocalist, was exposed to this music in his childhood through his father and grandfather. The group formed in 2017 through deep friendship and a shared passion for Iraqi music, and has been performing ever since in festivals and events of all kinds, both locally and internationally.

The band’s vision is to make the depth and beauty of this music accessible to Israeli and global audiences, and to preserve a unique culture that is slowly fading.

A captivating musical performance that brings the classic songs from this beloved album to the stage – with gorgeous Brazilian songs translated to Hebrew.

Helming the performance is musical director Nir Kleiner, one of Israel’s most promising drummers, who was born to a Brazilian family and raised on a bedrock of Latin music.
