Call for Entries: Miriam Hochman Short Film Competition 2026
Celebrating 25 Years of Independent and Daring Cinema
Cinema South Festival, celebrating its silver jubilee this year, invites filmmakers to submit their work for the Miriam Hochman Short Film Competition. The festival will take place from November 1–5, 2026.
We are looking for cinematic works that demonstrate a distinct visual signature, a challenging cinematic language, and an original, compelling narrative. The competition is open to films of all genres: Narrative, Documentary, Animation, Experimental, or Hybrid.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A short film up to 25 min, produced outside of an academic/student framework.
- Films completed during 2025–2026.
- Israeli Premiere: the competition is open only to films that have not yet been screened in Israel. Films previously screened (or scheduled to be screened prior to the festival) in other Israeli festivals, cinematheques, public screenings, or broadcasted on Israeli TV, or VOD or publicly available online platforms, are not eligible.
Submission Guidelines:
- Submissions must be completed via the Online Registration Form (available in Hebrew and English) on the festival’s website.
- A direct screening link must be provided (Vimeo/YouTube with password).
- If the film is still in post-production, a Rough Cut version may be submitted.
