Through the Eyes of a Woman 2025
The Workshop is an initiative of Negev Film Fund in collaboration with Cinema South Festival (CSF), The School of Audio & Visual Arts at Sapir College, Mifal HaPais, Gesher Film Fund, The Unit for the Advancement of Arab Students at Sapir college, Rahat Community Center, and Metaphor Productions. The workshop is led and facilitated by filmmaker Sigalit Banai.
At the pitching event, five women filmmakers from the Bedouin community presented scripts developed during the program. Out of the five proposals, two projects were selected by a jury that included Sapir College faculty member Rana Abu Fraiha, Mifal HaPais Council for the Culture and Arts member Rachel Elitzur, and filmmakers Qaid Abu Latif and Yosef Abu Madiam.
Two projects were chosen to move forward to production, each receiving a grant of 140,000 NIS:
Bloodline | Nesra Azbarga
A young Bedouin widow struggles to return her children, who were taken from her after her husband’s death. Based on a true murder case.
The Jumeiza Tree | Alaa Abu Fraih
Poetic childhood memories from an unrecognized village – roots being uprooted, and a memory that insists on blossoming despite destruction.
