Look at Me - Studio Darom Participants 2018
Synopsis
Miriam (14) and her mother Margo (45) live in a small flat at a workers’class, outskirts suburb. Margo struggles to survive, financially, working double shifts as a cleaner in a big shopping mall, whilst fiercely looking for love, as the men she's with seem to just come and go, but never stick around. Miriam spends most of her days alone in her home, struggles with her adolescence by herself, desperate to receive love from her mom. She watches Margo obsessively, showers, flirts with various men and follows her while she works at the mall. Miriam's gaze is one-sided. Margo does not look back at her. If Margo did not look back at her, Miriam would die, that's how she sometimes feels. Driven by feelings of anger and defiance of her mother, Miriam experiences her initial attempts with the opposite sex, imitating her mother's permissive and extravagant behavior. These sexual contacts leave her empty and humiliated.
