Across the Border - Studio Darom Participants 2019

Synopsis

EDEN, a 5-year-old Druze girl, dreams that she is the mother of two children, who was killed in a bombing in Syria, and that her children are now looking for her. SANA, 60, her grandmother, claims Eden is the reincarnation of her younger sister MONA, who was killed in Syria six years ago during the civil war. But Eden’s parents - ADAM, a battalion commander in the Israeli military, and NOUR, a geologist at the University of Haifa - dismiss Sana’s theory, who believes, like all the Druze of her generation, in reincarnation. They think it’s obvious that Eden has simply heard too many stories about Syria from her grandmother. Sana insists; she is haunted by Eden’s dreams.
The details she gets out of Eden suggest a dramatic possibility - that her sister’s children are still alive, somewhere out there in Syria. She decides she must do everything she can for them.
