Synopsis

Rita 12 year old growing up with a father, Beni, a pimp, and Mother Nana, who desires to normal life. While a lot of money is flowing into the house, her brother Gabriel and Nana do not use it, for it is “dirty” from women’s tears. On one fateful day, Gabriel gets involved in a fight, and eventually ends up with a man’s death. Gabriel is sent to prison for six years. Soon after, the father dies in a mysterious way. The absence of men creates a new world in the house, one that stands on women’s feet: Nana and Rita are independent and happy. When Gabriel returns, he is shaking the new order. Now Rita must choose whether to return to the old and familiar world or face the consequences of confronting her brother.

Born in Ashkelon, southern Israel in 1988. In 2011 she began studying film at Sapir College and directed two short films. her film "That Night" was screened at InsideOut, TLVFest, and more. The second film "Come Home" deals with personal family roots stories.
She has produced and directed serval video clips for different songwriters. also, produced the TLVFest Film Festival in 2014 and 2021. Her first feature film, Me Igal (Redeem-me) received support from the «Women in the Picture» 2019 in collaboration with 3 Israeli foundations. In 2020, she works as a casting assistant for two feature films.

Since 2014 – working with Laila films - Itai Tamir and involved in all the company’s projects such as Feature films, Documentary films, and TV Drama series.
In 2011 I Directed my debut feature “Sharqiya”. The film was distributed commercially in Israel and France. Premiered at the Berlinale Panorama 201, Cannes-ACID programme 2011, Jerusalem Film Festival 2012 [3 Awards including Best Feature Film Award], , Pesaro International Film Festival – Italy (Jury Special Mention), Festival du Film et Forum International sur les Droits Humains –Switzerland [Best Feature Film Award] and many more.

Itay Tamir - Laila Films | Producer

Itai Tamir was born in 1958 in Kibbutz Kfar Rupin. He began working in the Israeli film industry at the age of 21 and studied Production while fulfilling all the senior roles in various film productions. Since 2001, he has produced various films in collaboration with Transfax - productions. In 2010 he established his company, «Laila Films» as a boutique Production Company for high quality independent cinema intended for emerging Israeli and international filmmakers as: "Policeman" by Nadav Lapid, "The CakeMaker" by Ofir Raul Grizer, and many more.
