Opening event | A Horse With No Name

We are excited to open the Cinema South Festival on the Road with a film from the debut film competition in memory of Yahav Viner, a dear friend and creator whose promising cinematic future was cut short with boundless cruelty on October 7.
A Horse with No Name, by Assaf Assulin, is a window into the cinematic universe of the Cinema South Festival, and represents with honor the unique nature of the competition: free of self-restrictions of right or wrong, suffused with the unique style and personal signature of its creator. The work is independent and low-budget, and illustrates how a precise cinematic vision and a dedicated team turn the budgetary limitation into a creative advantage. The opening event of the travelling Cinema South Festival, which is taking place during times of war, deep and uncertain, invites the audience to a thought-provoking journey into the depths of the soul of a young artist – Israeli, and at the same time universal.

Before the film, there will be a screening of the short film "Demilitarized Zone" by Shahar Moshe, produced as part of the legendary "Daka Darom" course of the School of Audio and Visual Arts, which gently deals with the reality of life in the Western Negev - and the way we have learned to shield ourselves.
