How to transform a webpage with over a million followers into a TV show? In this masterclass on the show “The Pshute”, we will talk with screenwriters Chen Rotman and Oshrit Sarusi and director Dan Messer about the main character’s journey from social media to TV. We will discuss the challenge of turning a comic voice and online persona into a complete narrative world; on building the character of Bat El and the move from Ofakim to Tel Aviv; on writing from within pop culture; and on the intersection of script, direction, and humor. Through the show’s creation process, we will try to understand how a popular comic brand’s DNA can be maintained while reinventing it as a TV comedy.
