“Within my chest, two hearts beat. If one stops, the other will fall silent and die. Part of me is Palestinian, and the other Israeli.”
Raida Adon, a video artist, actress, and painter, carries a heavy personal, family, and historical burden. Even when she tries to escape it, this burden explodes in her art. She is the only Arab to have presented a solo exhibition at the Israel Museum. Despite her success, Raida struggles to find her place as a Palestinian artist in Israel. Her search for belonging takes her to Paris, where she discovers that the European art world sees her as Israeli and struggles to embrace her complexity. Wherever she lives, suitcases stand ready - only art is home.
