The film tells a powerful story of abandonment, redemption, and extraordinary human connection. Young parents Efrat and Ofir abandoned their newborn son, Malachi, after he was diagnosed with a rare syndrome. Bat Sheva, a devoted midwife, chose to become his foster mother, giving him a new life. Through interviews with the biological and foster parents and the medical staff, interwoven with expressive animation, the trauma of abandonment and its rippling effects unfold: the parents wrestling with guilt and longing for forgiveness, Bat Sheva’s boundless compassion, and Malachi’s personal journey to understand his past and find forgiveness. The film explores human complexity, parental responsibility, and the possibility of redemption amidst deep pain.
