Cinema South Festival 14-17.9.2020

  1. Artistic Declaration of Intent
    The Sapir College – School of Audio and Visual Arts (hereinafter: "the College") will conduct a cross-genre short film competition that delves into the significance of the cinematic medium (hereinafter: "the Competition"). The Competition is expected to take place at the 2020 Cinema South Festival (hereinafter: the "Festival).
  2. Competition Objectives
    To create a competitive framework designed for short films (2-5 minutes) - feature, experimental, animation and others, that promote a reflexive focus on the meaning of film and the filmmaker at a time when the shutdown of movie theaters becomes a reality.
  3. Who can submit?
    Students and graduates of local and foreign film schools
    Israeli and international filmmakers
    Films between 2-5 minutes in length
  4. What does one submit?
    An electronic registration form (hereinafter: the "Electronic form") signed by the applicant that appears on the Festival website.

  5. Deadline
    Competition participants undertake to meet the deadline and submit all material required by the regulations by the end of registration: Sunday, 30.7.2020 by 16:00.
    Notice about the films selected to take part in the Festival program will be sent by 20.8.2020 at the complete and exclusive discretion of the committee members.
    Competition participants undertake to submit a copy in screening format according to the demands of the Festival board and/or their proxy, which will include subtitles in Hebrew and in English.
    Submission of final copy to the Festival office by Thursday 27.8.2020
  6. Agreement Terms and Rights
    The submitted films will be examined by the lector committee to be appointed by the Festival board. The Festival board is authorized to determine the number of committee members and their identity and to change them from time to time at their discretion.
    Competition terms and/or the terms of these regulations are subject to change as published from time to time on the Festival website and at the sole discretion of the Festival board.
    Filmmakers taking part in the Competition undertake to cooperate with the Festival's public relations department and with whomever on its behalf to a reasonable extent in all matters pertaining to marketing, advertising and PR events related to the film. The filmmakers will be present at one screening of the film at least at the
    The Festival is authorized to have up to three screenings of any film accepted into the Competition during the 2020 Cinema South Festival events and to use, at the College's discretion, the films and/or supplementary materials at up to 30 seconds of the length of any film, in view of promoting Festival activities including promotion and marketing thereof.
    Competition participants guarantee that these films won't be screened, won't be broadcast and won't be at the disposal of the public before their screening at the Festival, unless this has been coordinated with the Festival board.
    Submission of the film to the Festival forms confirmation that the applicant approved the sections of the regulations and agrees that these will apply to him or her and bind him or her for all intents and purposes.
    The screening schedule of the films accepted into the Festival program and the times thereof will be at the sole discretion of the Festival board.
  7. Copyrights
    The owner maintains exclusive screening rights.
    It is the filmmakers and producers' responsibility to see to all the necessary rights and clearances from third parties for screenings at the Festival.
    The Festival board and/or College will be authorized, at their exclusive discretion and at any time, to disqualify any film whereby the details of which appear on the registration form are incomplete and/or incorrect and/or the candidate didn't comply with any number of his or her abovementioned undertakings and/or according to the regulations, without any obligation to provide a reason and/or any other obligation.
    The College cannot commit, for various reasons (including security and/or reasons related to scheduling) that any film will be screened. The Festival board is authorized to cancel the program and/or stop it at any time.
  8. General
    That said in this document constitutes competition participation regulations. The Festival board is authorized to change the terms of the regulations and any detail therein at any time at its discretion. The applicant will be bound by these changes at any time and therefore every applicant who wants to participate in the program must read the Festival publications that pertain to the program from time to time.
    These publications will appear on the Festival website.
    Participation in the Festival is the sole responsibility of the applicant. The College and/or anyone on its behalf will not be accountable for any damage, loss, or expense incurred (if any) by any applicant in relation to the program and/or that said in the regulations, its management, results and/or anything involved therein.
